What is Basics?

The Christian faith can feel overwhelming. Basics is a guide designed to help you learn the essentials of following Jesus and take your next steps of discipleship — one session at a time.

Across six sessions, you'll explore the story of God through the Bible, discover who Jesus is and what the Gospel means, consider baptism, and learn the practices that shape a life of discipleship: Scripture, prayer, and life in community.

The goal isn't to get through the content. It's to learn to walk with Jesus through the story of the Gospel and begin following a new way of life entirely.

Basics is for you if you're…

  • Simply exploring Christianity
  • New to the faith
  • Interested in baptism
  • Wanting to learn what discipleship to Jesus means
How It Works

Every session has three parts.

You're welcome to move at your own pace — a few days or even weeks with a single session.

01

Teaching

Introduces you to a basic concept of the Christian faith — clear, honest, and rooted in the story of Scripture.

02

Reflection

Your chance to wrestle with and respond to that concept through honest questions worth sitting with.

03

Practice

A simple way to integrate that concept into your daily life over the following week.

The Journey

Six sessions. Three movements.

Part OneOrthodoxy — What Christians Believe

02

Part TwoBaptism — Responding to the Gospel
03

From Death to Life

What the Gospel is, what it means to repent and believe, and why baptism is the first public step.

Part ThreeOrthopraxy — How Christians Live
04

What Is Discipleship?

05

Scripture & Prayer

The two foundational practices for staying connected to God.

06

Life in Community
