Basics
The beginning of a spiritual journey of faith that will transform you from the inside out.
Learning the basics of the Christian faith and taking your next steps of discipleship to Jesus.
What is Basics?
The Christian faith can feel overwhelming. Basics is a guide designed to help you learn the essentials of following Jesus and take your next steps of discipleship — one session at a time.
Across six sessions, you'll explore the story of God through the Bible, discover who Jesus is and what the Gospel means, consider baptism, and learn the practices that shape a life of discipleship: Scripture, prayer, and life in community.
The goal isn't to get through the content. It's to learn to walk with Jesus through the story of the Gospel and begin following a new way of life entirely.
Basics is for you if you're…
- Simply exploring Christianity
- New to the faith
- Interested in baptism
- Wanting to learn what discipleship to Jesus means
Every session has three parts.
You're welcome to move at your own pace — a few days or even weeks with a single session.
Teaching
Introduces you to a basic concept of the Christian faith — clear, honest, and rooted in the story of Scripture.
Reflection
Your chance to wrestle with and respond to that concept through honest questions worth sitting with.
Practice
A simple way to integrate that concept into your daily life over the following week.
Six sessions. Three movements.
The Story of God
The Bible as one story in six movements — Creation, Fall, Israel, Jesus, the Church, and New Creation.
Jesus & the Good News
Who Jesus is — Savior, Lord, and King — and why his life, death, and resurrection matter.
From Death to Life
What the Gospel is, what it means to repent and believe, and why baptism is the first public step.
What Is Discipleship?
Following Jesus as a whole way of life, not just a set of beliefs.
Scripture & Prayer
The two foundational practices for staying connected to God.
Life in Community
The church as a family — Sunday Gatherings, Together Groups, and Communion.
There are two ways to do Basics.
Basics works best when worked through in community. Pick the path that fits your life and season.
